Visiting the School
Twyford is unable to facilitate personal tours throughout the academic year.
Twyford hosts two Open Evenings during each Autumn term for Year 6 into 7 pupils and prospective Sixth Formers. Applicants are able to tour the school site and meet with current pupils and teaching staff from all seven of our year groups, as well as our Language College and Music College specialist departments. Applicants with Education, Health & Care Plans are able to visit our Additionally Resourced Centre (ARC). Headteacher Talks are held throughout the evening to provide insight into the school’s history, ethos and community in addition to our curriculum, pastoral and wider learning opportunities.
- Year 6 into 7 Open Evening - Thursday 20th September 2018 (Headteacher Talks at 5:30, 6:30 & 7:30 PM)
- Year 6 into 7 Open Day Tours - Tuesday 24th, Wednesday 25th & Thursday 26th September 2018 (booking for applicant families who are unable to attend the Open Evening only; tour sessions take place at 9:00, 10:00 AM & 12:20 PM and online bookings will open on Friday 21st September 2018 from 8:00 AM)
- Sixth Form Open Evening - Thursday 8th November 2018 (Internal pupils are expected to arrive at 5:45 with their Headteacher Talk at 6:00 & external applicants Headteacher Talks will take place at 7:00 & 8:00 PM)
Although bookings are not required, the Headteacher Talks are ticketed in order to arrange seating. Tickets are distributed upon arrival on a first-come-first-serve basis. In recent years, tickets have been heavily over-subscribed and we therefore advise arriving earlier in the evening even if you are planning to attend the latest talk. Please note that there is no on-site parking at Twyford or available parking in the surrounding residential areas of the school site. All evenings are expected to finish at 8:30 PM.
Year 6 into 7 Open Day Tour bookings will not be accepted in advance and will not be taken by phone or email. As the Open Days Tours are heavily oversubscribed, bookings are only available to those whose child will be entering high school in September 2019. We also only take family groups of three or less in order to accommodate as many interested parties as possible (there are only 25 places per tour). Tours last about 50 minutes.
The admissions process and application packs will be distributed during each evening event with a member of the Admissions Department available to meet with applicant families in the Learning Resource Centre (LRC) who may have any additional queries.
AGAIN, PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE IS NO ON-SITE PARKING AT TWYFORD, OR AVAILABLE PARKING IN THE SURROUNDING RESIDENTIAL AREAS OF THE SCHOOL SITE AT ANY PUBLIC EVENT.
