GCSE Results Day 2021

GCSE results at Twyford continue to place Twyford well within the top 5% of schools and vindicate the very systematic approach to curriculum coverage and assessment which students and staff sustained despite the disruption. It is a source of considerable pride that 45% of the school’s intake, gained 8 or more grades at 7 or above.

65% of the exams sat were passed at the top grades of 7-9, 92% were graded 5-9, and 98% achieved the pass grade of a 4 or above.

Students picking up their examination results were delighted that the hard work of the past 5 years had paid off and put them in a strong position for enrolment onto post-16 courses.

20% of students gained 5 or more passes at the exceptionally challenging Grade 9 with 24 students gaining 8 or more grades at this level and at six individuals achieving the highly unusual feat of straight 9’s across the board in 10 or more subjects

Headteacher, Karen Barrie commented ‘staff and students have worked incredibly hard to achieve this level of success in extraordinary circumstances and we are truly delighted that their efforts have paid off, particularly in the light of the difficult situation students were placed in this year and last’.
